Terms of Service
Effective October 27, 2026. Last updated October 30, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Mizan FinTech LLC, which operates Nisabify (“Nisabify”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Nisabify website at nisabify.com (and any other address where Nisabify serves it) and the Nisabify apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, which these terms call “Nisabify” or “the service”. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what information Nisabify keeps and why.
- Nisabify’s zakah figures are estimates worked out from what you enter. They are not a fatwa. The rulings Nisabify applies are sourced but have not been reviewed by a scholar, so ask a qualified scholar about your own situation.
- Nothing in Nisabify is financial, tax, investment or legal advice.
- Nisabify does not hold or move your money. A gift goes straight to the charity or masjid you choose, and the gift is between you and them.
- Nisabify’s Basic plan is free. Plus and Premium are paid plans you can buy on the website. They renew automatically until you cancel, and payments are not refunded except where the law requires. Nisabify has no ads.
- You must be 18 or older to use Nisabify.
- You can delete your account at any time.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By using Nisabify, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Nisabify.
You may use Nisabify for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
Nisabify was called Mizan until October 4, 2026. Only the name changed: it is the same service, run by the same operator, and your account and records are the same.
2. Who can use Nisabify
Nisabify is a personal-finance tool for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use it, and by using it you confirm that you are.
Nisabify is for adults aged 18 or over. Before using the website, you must confirm "I am 18 or over." Nisabify records this confirmation, its time and the policy wording version you agreed to. The website asks for your date of birth only when you have a retirement account and choose to work out penalty-free withdrawals from your date of birth. The website saves the date in your account to value your retirement savings once you can withdraw them without penalty. You can correct it in Settings under Accounts. It is not shared with any provider and is deleted with your account. Current iPhone and Android builds still check adulthood using your date of birth and save it only when their wording explicitly says so. Anyone under 18 cannot continue.
Nisabify is built for people in the United States. Amounts are in US dollars, the charities it lists are US tax-exempt organizations, and connecting accounts works with US institutions only.
3. What Nisabify does
Nisabify helps you:
- choose your school of fiqh (Ḥanafī, Mālikī, Shāfiʿī or Ḥanbalī) and related settings, such as the nisab standard, a lunar or solar year, and how retirement accounts are treated;
- enter your accounts, assets and debts, and see an estimate of the zakah on them, with the working that produced it;
- keep track of your zakah year (ḥawl);
- give to a charity on its own website or through Every.org, or to a masjid that has a page on Nisabify, and keep a record of what you gave;
- set aside round-ups from your purchases to give each month;
- ask questions about Nisabify’s rules and your own figures with Ask Nisabify;
- get reminders before your zakah is due;
- export your giving record and download your data.
Nisabify has a Connect accounts option that uses Plaid to read the balances, holdings and debts of your US accounts and, only after you agree to Money, transactions in US dollars. How many institutions you can connect depends on your plan. Section 7 describes how it works.
You need a Nisabify account to use Nisabify, on the website and in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps. You can sign in with an email address and password everywhere, and with Google or Apple where Nisabify offers them (see section 13).
Nisabify has a free Basic plan and paid plans, described in section 8. Nisabify has no ads. You are only charged for a plan you choose to buy, or for round-ups you choose to give by card (section 9).
We may add, change or remove features over time.
4. Zakah figures are estimates, not religious rulings
- Nisabify works out a figure from the information you enter (such as balances, weights, debts, dates and prices) and the settings you choose. If that information is incomplete, out of date or wrong, the figure will be too. Nisabify shows its working so that you can check it.
- Nisabify does not yet apply every recorded position exactly. In particular, it currently deducts debts the same way under the Ḥanafī and Ḥanbalī settings. Check the working against your own school before you rely on a figure.
- The gold and silver prices Nisabify uses for the nisab threshold, and to value any gold or silver you hold, are a daily reference price from metals.dev by default unless you enter your own. Nisabify keeps the first reading it accepts each day. Settings shows the date and source of the price in use; when a day’s reading has not arrived, the last price stays, with its date. Prices you enter stay as entered until you change them. Check the date before you rely on a figure.
- The rulings Nisabify applies come from a ruling set labelled “Sourced, not scholar-reviewed”. Each position in it is recorded with its source, but no named scholar has reviewed the set. The version in use is shown next to each figure.
- A Nisabify figure is an estimate. It is not a fatwa or a religious ruling, and Nisabify does not decide whether you owe zakah, how much, or when. Labels such as “Zakah due now” describe the estimate under your settings, not a ruling on your obligation. Consult a qualified scholar for your situation.
5. Not financial, tax, investment or legal advice
Nisabify is a calculator and a record-keeper. Nothing in Nisabify, including these terms, is financial, tax, investment, accounting or legal advice, and using Nisabify does not make us your adviser or fiduciary. For decisions about your money, your taxes or your legal position, talk to a qualified professional.
Nisabify’s giving record is a record of what you told Nisabify you gave. It is not a receipt and it is not tax advice. A gift is generally tax-deductible only if it went to a qualifying US organization; payments to individuals or to family generally are not, and most gifts to foreign organizations are not. Keep the receipt each charity sends you: that, not Nisabify’s record, is what supports a deduction.
6. Giving: Nisabify never holds your money
- Nisabify does not hold or receive your money, and it never takes a share of a gift.
- Charities. The Give links for charities open the charity’s own website, or Every.org’s checkout when you give through Every.org, including round-ups. Any donation you make there is between you and that charity: the charity, or Every.org for the charity, takes the payment, is the recipient of record and issues your receipt.
- Masjids on Nisabify. A gift to a masjid that has a page on Nisabify is paid by card on a checkout page run by Stripe, Inc., directly into that masjid’s own Stripe account. The masjid is the seller and the recipient of record. The masjid pays Stripe’s processing fee. You can choose to add an estimated amount so that the masjid receives about the full gift; the estimate can differ from Stripe’s actual fee, for example for a card issued outside the US. The masjid issues any receipt and handles refunds. You choose whether a gift is zakah, sadaqah or a general gift, and only masjids that say they accept zakah offer the zakah option.
- A masjid’s page shows what the masjid has told Nisabify. Nisabify checks that its employer identification number has the right form and that the masjid has confirmed its tax-exempt status. It does not verify either with the IRS, and it does not assess whether the masjid distributes zakah correctly.
- The organizations Nisabify lists are US charities whose tax-exempt status was looked up in IRS records (the IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File, via ProPublica’s Nonprofit Explorer) on the date shown in Nisabify. That confirms US tax-exempt status and nothing more. A listing is not an endorsement, and it is not a ruling that giving to that organization discharges your zakah. Nisabify has not assessed that; it is a question for a scholar.
- Charity websites are run by the charities, not by Nisabify. We are not responsible for their content, for how they take payments, for what they do with your gift, or for whether their links keep working.
- Recording a gift yourself in Nisabify only updates your own record. Nisabify does not send it to the charity. A gift you make to a masjid through Nisabify’s checkout while signed in, or through Every.org once Every.org confirms it, is added to your Records for you.
- Whether a gift is tax-deductible, and keeping the evidence for it, is a matter for you and the charity.
7. Connecting accounts
- Connect accounts, on the website and in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps, connects your bank, card, loan, investment and retirement accounts through Plaid, a service provided by Plaid Inc. It works only with US institutions and balances in US dollars. You need a Nisabify account to connect one.
- How many institutions you can connect depends on your plan: none on Basic, up to five on Plus, and no fixed limit on Premium. If your plan ends, or you move to a plan with a lower limit, the connections beyond the limit pause. They are not deleted, and the values already read stay in your account. They start updating again if you choose a plan that includes them.
- You sign in to your institution on a page run by Plaid. Nisabify does not receive your sign-in details.
- The connection is read-only. Through it Nisabify reads your account balances, the holdings in your investment and retirement accounts, and your debts: what you owe on credit cards and loans, and when the next payment is due. The connection also includes permission for your transactions; Nisabify reads transactions in US dollars only after you agree to Money. Money is part of the Premium plan. Nisabify does not ask for the permissions that payments, transfers or withdrawals need, so it cannot use the connection to move money.
- Nisabify keeps, for each institution, its name, Plaid’s references for the connection and an encrypted access token, and for each account its name, type and each value it reads, with the date. For Money it keeps transaction dates, amounts, merchant names and categories; your category corrections, notes, merchant rules and budgets; and daily net-worth records from stored values. Transactions, their corrections and notes stay for up to 25 months from their dates, budgets for 13 calendar months, counted from their budget month, and net-worth records for 25 months. Transactions, their corrections and notes, and net-worth records stay for up to 13 months if you have not accepted the updated Money terms. Merchant rules stay until you remove them or delete your account. It also keeps a record that you agreed, with the version of the wording and the date. To make the connection Nisabify sends Plaid your Nisabify account’s ID, not your name or email address. The Privacy Policy has the details.
- A connected credit card or loan is counted as a debt, never as something you own. A card balance is treated as due now and a loan as long-term; your school’s rules then decide what is deducted. An overdrawn bank account, or an investment account worth less than nothing, is counted as a debt due now. An account that is not in US dollars is skipped.
- Nisabify updates connected accounts when you connect them, when you open your Wealth page and the last reading is more than 12 hours old, when you choose Update now on the website, and when Plaid reports a change. Figures come from your institution through Plaid and can be late or wrong. You cannot edit a connected account or debt balance in Nisabify, so check the figures before you rely on them; if one is wrong, disconnect the institution and enter the account manually. Money categorises transactions automatically using Plaid categories and your merchant rules; you can correct categories and add notes. Marking a gift as zakah does not record a zakah payment or reduce what is due. Money reports use stored transactions and values, and a daily net-worth record uses stored values that may be out of date.
- Each connected institution has a Disconnect button on the Wealth page. It ends the connection at Plaid, stops new reads and takes that institution’s accounts and debts out of your wealth calculation. On the website, disconnecting also removes that institution’s imported transactions and balance history, and they cannot be recovered. In the apps, transactions already read remain for up to 25 months from their dates, or 13 months if you have not accepted the updated Money terms. If a connection stops working, Nisabify marks it as needing to be reconnected and cannot read it until you choose Reconnect. Deleting your Nisabify account disconnects every institution and erases its Money transactions, category corrections, notes, merchant rules, budgets and net-worth records.
- Your use of Plaid’s service is governed by Plaid’s own terms and by its End User Privacy Policy. Plaid, not Nisabify, is responsible for Plaid’s service.
8. Plans and payments
- Plans. Basic is free. Plus and Premium are paid plans, billed monthly or yearly in US dollars at the price shown on the Plans page when you subscribe. Today Plus is $6.99 a month or $59.99 a year, and Premium is $7.99 a month or $69.99 a year. The Plans page lists what each plan includes. Family covers Premium features for up to 5 people with 15 connected institutions shared, and the owner's plan governs the members' access.
- Where to buy. Plans are sold on the website. The iPhone, iPad and Android apps do not sell plans; a plan bought on the website applies in the apps too.
- Paying. Payments are taken by Stripe, Inc. on a checkout page Stripe runs. Nisabify never receives your full card number.
- First-year offer. Until February 1, 2027, your first plan is 30% off for its first 12 months, whether you pay monthly or yearly. An account can use a first-year offer once.
- Renewal. Your plan renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and Stripe charges the card on file, until you cancel. When a first-year offer ends, the plan renews at the full price then shown. If a price changes, we will tell you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you.
- Changing plans. If you switch between Plus and Premium, or between monthly and yearly, Stripe charges or credits the difference for the rest of the current period straight away.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time on the Plans page. Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then your account moves to Basic. You can undo a cancellation before that date.
- Refunds. Payments are not refunded, except where the law requires. To ask about a payment, email info@mizanfintech.app.
- A payment that fails. If a renewal payment fails, we email you and Stripe tries again. Your plan continues while it tries. If the payment still cannot be taken, the plan ends and your account moves to Basic.
- Moving to Basic. Your records, gifts, calculations and the balances you entered stay. Connections beyond Basic’s limit pause, and Money and round-ups stop until you choose a plan that includes them.
- Deleting your account. Deleting your account cancels a paid plan at once, and no further payments are taken. The unused part of the current period is not refunded, except where the law requires. Cards saved with Stripe for Nisabify are removed.
9. Round-ups
- Round-ups are part of Premium and use the transactions in Money. For each purchase, Nisabify rounds the amount up to the next whole dollar (a purchase of an exact dollar amount adds nothing) and multiplies the spare change by the multiple you choose (1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 times), up to the monthly limit you set (from $5 to $500). Amounts below the $5 collection minimum carry into later months.
- To a charity. Nisabify keeps track of the amount; it does not collect it, hold it or charge you. Each month you choose whether to give it through Every.org’s checkout or skip it.
- To a masjid on Nisabify, with a saved card. If you choose a masjid and save a card, you authorise a charge to that card once a month, for the round-ups of the month just finished, paid directly into the masjid’s Stripe account. You can see the amount building up during the month. If a charge fails, we email you, and you can try again, save a different card, or skip that month. You can remove your card or turn round-ups off at any time; no new charge is started after that.
- Turning round-ups off clears the amounts not yet collected. It does not cancel a checkout already started or reverse a gift already made.
- Counting a gift as zakah does not make a recipient eligible to receive zakah. Confirm that with the recipient and a qualified scholar.
10. Masjid pages
- Creating a page. Anyone who creates a masjid’s page on Nisabify confirms that they are authorised to act for that masjid and that what they enter is accurate, including its employer identification number, its tax-exempt status and whether it accepts zakah. Each page has one administrator.
- Payments. To receive gifts, the masjid opens its own Stripe account through Stripe’s onboarding and accepts Stripe’s terms for that account. Stripe decides whether the account can take payments. The masjid pays Stripe’s fees. Nisabify takes no fee from gifts. The masjid is responsible for its receipts, refunds, disputes and tax filings for the gifts it receives.
- What the administrator sees. On Nisabify, member and gift counts and gift totals, never who the members are or their wealth. In its own Stripe account the masjid sees each payment it receives, with the details Stripe shows a seller.
- Membership. You can join one masjid at a time, with its join code or from its page. Joining another masjid replaces your membership. You can leave at any time.
- We may remove a page, or stop gifts to it, if it is misleading, if the masjid’s Stripe account is closed or restricted, or if it breaks these terms.
11. Ask Nisabify
Ask Nisabify answers questions about Nisabify’s published rules, and about your own figures when you choose to include them. Its answers are written by an AI model. They can be wrong or incomplete, and they are not religious rulings or financial, tax or legal advice. For a ruling about your own situation, ask a qualified scholar. Each plan includes a number of questions a month: 10 on Basic, 50 on Plus and 200 on Premium.
12. Reminders
Nisabify can remind you by email, and on a phone by notification, before your zakah is due, on the day it is due, and when a connected account needs to be reconnected. You can turn reminders off in Settings, and turn reminder emails off with the link in any reminder email. Reminders depend on your settings, on delivery services and on your phone’s notification permission. They may be late or not arrive. You remain responsible for checking your zakah date and your connections.
13. Your account
- You can create a Nisabify account with your email address and a password of at least 8 characters. Nisabify will not accept a password that is known to have appeared in a data breach. We email you a link to confirm your address before you can sign in. You can also sign in with Google or with Sign in with Apple where Nisabify offers them.
- Keep your password, and the email, Google or Apple account you use with Nisabify, secure: anyone who can sign in with them can reach your Nisabify account. If you forget your password, choose Forgot password? on the sign-in screen and we will email you a link to choose a new one. If you lose access to your email account, or to the Google or Apple account you sign in with, we may not be able to give you back your Nisabify account. Export your giving record (see Exporting, below) to keep your own copy. If you think someone else has used your Nisabify account, tell us at info@mizanfintech.app.
- Please keep the information you enter accurate. You are responsible for what you enter and for the decisions you make with it.
- On the website: the website keeps your sign-in session in that browser, so closing the tab does not sign you out. Your information is loaded from your account and is not kept in the browser. Signing out removes the session; only your theme choice stays. An earlier version of the website kept a copy of your information in the browser; if you used it, clearing that browser’s site data for nisabify.com removes any copy it left.
- Deleting your account: you can delete your account at any time with Delete account in Settings, on the website and in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps (step-by-step instructions). If you cannot sign in, email info@mizanfintech.app from the address on your account and we will help you delete it. Deleting your account cancels any paid plan at once (section 8). Deletion cannot be undone. The Privacy Policy explains what is deleted and when.
- Exporting: you can export your giving record as a CSV file with Export CSV in Records, in the apps and on the website. On the website, Download my data in Settings downloads everything in your account. Keep your own copy of any records you need, for example for your taxes.
14. Your information and records
- The information you put into Nisabify is yours. You allow us to store, process and display it to provide Nisabify to you and for the other purposes described in the Privacy Policy, such as keeping your account secure and complying with a valid legal order. Your school of fiqh is used only to work out your zakah, as described in the separate consent you gave for it. We do not sell your information, and Nisabify shows no ads.
- Some records are kept as history rather than overwritten, so that what you acted on can be checked later. In your account, a figure calculated on Nisabify’s server is saved as it was calculated and is not changed afterwards, a gift you remove is marked void rather than erased, and a holding you remove is archived. These records stay in your account until you delete it, or as the Privacy Policy describes.
15. Acceptable use
When you use Nisabify, please do not:
- use it for anything unlawful;
- try to get into another person’s account or information, or into any part of Nisabify you are not meant to reach;
- connect an account you are not authorized to access;
- probe, scan or test Nisabify’s security, or try to get around it, without our written permission;
- interfere with Nisabify or overload it, including with automated tools that make an unreasonable number of requests;
- copy, change, distribute or reverse-engineer Nisabify’s software, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- present Nisabify’s figures or methodology notes as a fatwa, as reviewed by a scholar, or as coming from a scholar;
- use Nisabify’s records to mislead anyone, for example by presenting them as a donation receipt, or as evidence of a gift you did not make.
If you think you have found a security problem, please tell us at info@mizanfintech.app, and do not access, change or keep information that is not yours.
16. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using Nisabify at any time, and you can delete your account as described in section 13.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we need to in order to protect Nisabify, its users or others, or if the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export your records first. If we close your account, any paid plan is cancelled and no further payments are taken.
- We may change, suspend or stop offering Nisabify or any part of it. If we decide to shut Nisabify down, we will give reasonable advance notice on the website and, where we can, in the apps, so that you can export your records.
- Sections 4, 5, 6, 8 (for payments already due) and 17 to 24 continue to apply after your use of Nisabify ends.
17. Intellectual property
- Nisabify’s software, design, name and logo, and the text Nisabify writes (including its methodology notes), belong to Nisabify or its licensors. The sources that Nisabify’s methodology cites belong to their own authors and publishers.
- We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Nisabify under these terms. It ends when your use of Nisabify ends, or if we end it under section 16.
- Apple, Google, Plaid, Stripe, Every.org, Anthropic and the charities and masjids Nisabify lists own their names and marks. Mentioning them does not mean they endorse Nisabify.
- If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
18. Other companies’ services
Nisabify relies on services run by other companies, and their own terms apply when you use them:
- Sign-in: if you sign in with Google or with Apple, Google’s or Apple’s terms apply to your Google Account or Apple Account.
- App stores: if you got the Nisabify app from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Nisabify or for supporting it. If you got the app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply to your use of Google Play.
- Connecting accounts: Plaid (see section 7).
- Payments: Stripe, for plans, gifts to masjids and round-ups charged to a card (see sections 8 to 10).
- Giving: the charities’ own websites, and Every.org when you give through it (see section 6).
We are not responsible for services run by other companies.
19. Disclaimer of warranties
Nisabify is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.
In particular, we do not promise that Nisabify will be accurate, complete, available without interruption, secure or free of errors, or that any figure it produces is right for your situation. Some places do not allow some of these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
20. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Nisabify will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, lost data or the cost of substitute services, arising from or related to Nisabify or these terms;
- that includes losses that come from relying on a Nisabify figure, from a donation you made or did not make, from a tax position you took, or from a service run by another company;
- Nisabify’s total liability to you for all claims related to Nisabify or these terms is limited to US$100.
This applies whatever the legal basis of the claim, even if we were told that the loss was possible. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded.
21. Indemnity
If someone else makes a claim against Nisabify because you broke these terms, broke the law, or violated someone else’s rights while using Nisabify, you agree to cover Nisabify’s reasonable losses and costs from that claim, including reasonable legal fees. This does not apply to the extent the claim was caused by our own fault. We will tell you about any such claim promptly and let you take part in the defence.
22. Governing law and disputes
- These terms, and any dispute about them or about Nisabify, are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
- If you have a concern, please contact us first at info@mizanfintech.app. We will both try to resolve it informally for 30 days before either of us goes to court.
- Any lawsuit must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you and Nisabify agree to those courts’ jurisdiction. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies.
- Nothing in this section takes away any right you have under the consumer-protection laws of the place where you live that cannot be waived by agreement.
23. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top.
If a change materially reduces your rights, we will give at least 30 days’ notice on the website and, where we can, in the apps before it takes effect, unless the change is required by law or needed urgently for security. A change to a plan’s price is announced as section 8 describes.
If you keep using Nisabify after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree to them, stop using Nisabify and delete your account.
24. General
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Nisabify about the service.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- If we do not enforce part of these terms straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to an organization that takes over operating Nisabify; if that happens, we will tell you, and these terms will continue to protect you.
- The headings and the short version at the top are there to help you read these terms. They do not change what the terms say.
